Curious about the Mankhad tribe?
☆A little of him--
Khasar might come off as intimidating to some, being a large and well-built au ra with a smile to rival a shark and what's politely called a "resting bitch face." Though it's safe to say he's usually anything but that.To the best of his abilities he's playful, social, and friendly if a bit dry is verbal delivery. His loyalty is one quickly earned, though he has a terrible habit of falling into over-protectiveness. Or, maybe just worried his smaller friends will get themselves hurt! He's best described as a big dog that doesn't quite seem to know his own strength. His common aloofness comes from his lack of understanding of the Eorzean language, coming off as quite reserved when stumbling over his broken, carefully-chosen words. He otherwise speaks Old Auri (sometimes known as <"Xaelic"> to some) and a curious separate dialect for his Mankhad tongue.
His Life

Before he left the Mankhad, Khasar as a young boy would often rummage and scavenge trinkets and prizes from shipwrecks on their coastal travels. This, and whatever shiny if useless trinket a sailor might gift him, fueled his fascination for the world and what was out there.Growing up he'd become spoiled by tales brought by travelers, the same ones he'd learned what fragments of the Eorzean dialect he has from. From tales of stone monoliths in a sea of sand, mountains coated in a frozen dusting with winged lizards taking their skies, to creatures that spring to life at the beck and call of a magical book, that whimsy of discovery - what might be out beyond the boundaries of what he'd known - never quite left him.Eventually it was inevitable, he'd say goodbye to find these tales he'd clung so dearly to. Though things turned out to be more mundane than he'd liked it did help stoke the flames of exploration and help him develop a love for the variety of cultures of the world. Including becoming quite a decent chef in the process! As he'd learned, even the mundane have to start somewhere. In Eorzea you need these shiny pieces called 'gil' to get by. And he hasn't quite gotten the chef job he hopes for. He's jumped occupations several times, eventually learning his best bet in earning sits in security or sellsword work. Though ever-present in his mind are the tales from his yesteryear. Most recently on his trips and trials he's on a search for strange fragments called the Crystal Shell. With one on his person, it's a start for a story yet to be told!
Mankhad

The ancestral mark of the Mankhad tribe, often seen on banners or embroidery with their olive green backsplash. Vaguely represents an ocean wave.
"A costal tribe which fights with blow-darts made from bones dipped in the poison of the pufferfish. So practiced with the pipes are the tribe, that they can disable a target from 200 paces."
That's what the game has given us, and what I intend to expand upon here! This is by no means definitive for anyone other than myself, and serves somewhat as a backing.
The Auri
Formidable as a group and intimidating as they tend to be as individuals, the Mankhad have adopted to settle most disputes with games, taking up arms only if they feel they need to.Sometimes known as the "Playmates of the Steppe," confrontation with violence is rare, but not unheard of. Disputes, arguments over resources and territory, and any other sort of scuffle they prefer to solve without bloodshed if they're able. This can, and has, manifested in many ways. Most individuals' personal preference is a playful bout of roughhousing such as a mock wrestling derived from bökh. Though it isn't always what one might settle for: Foot races, tests of wit and trickery, even putting themselves at a hard disadvantage with a game they've never even heard of or experienced before! The Mankhad believe that even the biggest, strongest person need not prove themselves solely through force.
Their Homestead
The Mankhad need a place to call their own. They live primarily where the Ruby Sea shores meet the Azim Steppe entrance, though it's not unheard of to see them travel further out, anywhere where land meets sea. These hearty trips mean they forego livestock and take to a healthy mix of fishing, dried meats and preserved vegetables. (On their rests, they're excellent at agriculture and farming!) Fruits for them are a foraged luxury - and real treat!More often than not, most individuals collect plants, minerals, and insects, all to be processed into a rainbow of rich powders for pigments to be turned into paint. It's up to each individual to decide for their own belongings, but most tend to paint or dye everything, finding things without pattern or design to be lacking soul. They relish in an ever-changing canvas and the tapestry of colours that comes with it. Khasar himself is no exception to this; he tends to decorate himself with colourful, simple shapes (often basic stars) on his arms and torso with a semi-permanent dye.Besides vegetable bounty and fish, their sole one-up on their Steppe stops comes with their precious trade good: Wood. They bring with them to trade the scavenge from shipwrecks and collected driftwood. (Dried and readied for use in structures, fences, or anything else this exceeding rare material on the Steppe proper might need.)
And the Rest
...when it comes to the Nadaam? Khasar's attempted in the past to catastrophic results, but the Mankhad as a whole have never gotten very far. Others tend to look down on their attempted inclusion, claiming while they live near they don't live on the Steppe in any permanent basis to have a chance.

☆The Nadaam--
He's attempted to participate in the Nadaam in the past. Though he didn't get very far, failing to best and earn the respect of a Yol, near laughed out of the attempts, and in the end only succeeding in giving him a slight phobia of birds. (His own chocobo being no exception!)
☆Fighting--
It's last on his list of how to resolve disputes, but Khasar is still a decent fighter. Armed with his weapons, he'll help if help is needed. He might spar just for fun, too!
☆Cooking--
Hungry? Khasar's surprisingly a decent cook, even if his meals are usually laden with spices that would light up the mouths of most Eorzeans. He's shared his meals with various organizations and individuals, even charities, and doesn't mind the occasional catering. He hopes to open (or help open) a small place one day to share the dishes he's learned in his travels.
☆Stories & Art--
Khasar often finds himself drawing to kill time. In the past a few venues had recruited him for this task, though he's usually fiddling with a small sketchbook. If you ask he might make you a small portrait.
☆Just a Friendly Chat--
He might not have the most extensive Eorzean dialect, broken and stumbling over his own words, but Khasar is a social au ra. He'll happily sit down and chat with anyone about anything, and is more than glad to make a few friends in the process.
Misc. Whatever!
Just some random facts.

☆He enjoys fishing--
...and he often smells of the sea. (:
☆Facepaint--
Being seen without some sort of facepaint is a somewhat rare occurrence. The X-shaped smudge across his face is the most common.
☆A General Facination--
He has an interest in Eorzea's practices. Summoning magics, especially, catch his interest. He'd love to learn to summon his own carbuncle!

Khasar's Doodlings

☆-WIP-☆
IC: Khasar usually carries a small notebook, where small scribbles and doodles he makes can be found. Usually these are directions for recipes, but they include other small drawings!OOC: Would you like your character drawn? Would you like someone to visit your venue and draw your guests for fun? I'm happy to do that for free with Khasar! Simply ask him in character (walk-up? in conversation?) and see where it leads! For these, my availability and the end results are at my discretion. They're quick scribbles. My only goal is to make others happy. ♥
(Currently, requests are open!)
(These are all quite old and newer requests would be loved!)

Nothing is in order and some things are older than others. Various doodles and drawings of Khasar I do will go here! (All are/will be SFW.)
OOC

Feel free to approach IC or OOC; I love talking and making new friends and finding RP partners!
I'm open to all types of RP. My only real no-go is the death of my character. I enjoy continuity in stories and long-term RP, but "one-off" RP isn't off the table! Romance and relationships are fine if the characters get along well. Just please don't be weird about it. I am not interested in ERP.
I RP in-game and on Discord. Discord info given on request.
Please remember! IC is not OOC. Do not mix the two. Khasar's actions do not reflect my own thoughts or feelings.
